Dartmoor Rainforest
Dartmoor Rainforest
This piece is made from 4 layers of copper foiled stained glass work, with glass painting. It uses a mix of discontinued glass- the layering creates this depth of diorama that you can just fall into.
I’ve collaborated with the extremely talented Johnny from @boostarwood to make the amazing stand for this piece out of a living edge piece of Pippy Oak- it’s so divine.
I designed this piece based on a photo that a friend took for me, as I was on a walkabout on Dartmoor. On the first morning we woke in Lustleigh Woods which is a section of Temperate Rain Forest. I was totally mesmerised by the layers of foliage and trees, bogs and ferns and knew I needed to capture it in glass. This piece was conceived as a 'diorama'- with 4 layers pulling you deeper in the forest and enabling you to feel the lushness and depth of greenery and lush wonder that our temperate rainforests contain.
