Sea Lions

These three Sealions were based on an amazing photograph of a collection of Sealions mid bicker whilst basking on a pontoon somewhere. I loved the intensity of the focus between the three of them, and the silkiness of their fur.

I used a new adaptation of a traditional glass painting technique, over two firings, to capture the movement of these lovely Sealions.

The artwork showcases detailed brushwork that beautifully and realistically captures the Sealion's waterproof coat. Mounted on a bespoke wooden base, this artwork creates a three-dimensional effect against the undulating turquoise of this glass
